The bloggers of Cool Dees group are a bunch of bright, talented
and fun loving teens.
This blog is set up to showcase their talents and to develop their viewpoints on certain issues that might interest or affect them. In addition, the blog is also used for english lessons and importantly, a platform for Cool Dees to UNITE!
Definitely no immature nonsense or language on this blog.. the people of Cool Dees...guarantees it.
Rules of the blog:
1) Flaming or vulgar & personal harmful remarks are definitely a No-no. This only reflects the immaturity of the author. We are all civilised & educated people.. Only barbarians & animals do that.
2) Respect all viewpoints. Be polite in your blog entries. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. There is no need to take it personally. It's just a discussion.
3)Show responsiblity for the class blog. Show responsiblity unless you do not want to be part of the Cool Dees. Treat it with respect & give it a little TLC.
4) Proper English is preferred... as this is a learning platform too. This will help the Cool Dees to get better in their writing talent each day.
Any misconduct or misuse will be seriously dealt with and will be struck off from the coveted list of Cool Dees.

This song is used as a kind of advertisment, a kind of tagline, to persuade people to speak Mandarin, instead of Dialects. Because in the early days, many of our forefathers come from China, and not all know how to speak mandarin. I'm pretty sure that some of your grandparents don't know how to speak mandarin, am I right? They speak only dialects. Thus, the government wants people to speak Mandarin, for better communication.
By the way, this song was made mandatory in all full schools in Singapore then, in the late 70's and early 80's. Very few of our generation people know this song, but if you ask people of your parent's generation, they would know how to sing. It is COMPULSORY to sing this song during Music Lessons. Mdm Chen should also know it. Either she's being taught this song or she've taught this song to students.
